Phillip LaVallee Obituary, Death – Phillip G. LaVallee, age 19, who resided in Monticello, went away suddenly and unexpectedly on Thursday, August 8, 2013. His passing came as a shock to everyone. When the sentence was handed down, he was a student at South Dakota State University, where he had graduated from Monticello High School with honors in 2012. At the time, he was enrolled there.
When he was a member of the track and cross country teams in high school and again when he was a member of those teams in college, he participated in both track and field events. He was an eager participant in a broad variety of sports and recreational endeavors, including ice hockey, jogging, disc golf, camping, pheasant hunting, and pretty much any other activity that took place outside. He also enjoyed a wide variety of leisure activities. Everyone who ever had the pleasure of his company will remember him fondly for his fantastic sense of humor and his warm, welcoming smile.
His parents, Greg and Amy, as well as his brothers, Andrew and Marcus, as well as his grandparents, Lloyd and Aggie LaVallee, Dan and Donna Kellas, and Andrea Hollister, as well as a number of aunts, uncles, and cousins, will always remember Phillip. Phillip was a member of his family who was held in extremely high esteem and received a great deal of affection. Each and every one of Phillip’s family is going to miss him in a significant and profound way. Before he passed away, Crandall Hollister, a guy who he referred to as his grandfather, had already left their home.
