Kristopher Ross Obituary, Death – On Friday, authorities revealed that there were two additional fatalities that occurred over the weekend at Lake Mead National Recreation Area, increasing the total number of fatalities that have occurred at the park to 19.
The office of the Clark County Coroner was able to determine that one of the people that passed away after drowning in Lake Mead over the past weekend was a man named Kristopher Ross, who was 42 years old and from Henderson, Nevada.
“Two more people drowned at Lake Mead National Recreation Area – that brings the total number of fatalities this year to 19,” said Acting Superintendent Mike Gauthier. “This is a tragic trend that we want to change.” We are still witnessing a significant number of events and accidents, both on land and in water.
Additionally, according to a news release issued by the authorities, there were “several close calls with boaters being caught off-guard as monsoon winds swept in unexpectedly and created hazardous conditions on the water.” The authorities also reported that there were more cases in which swimmers with pool toys and paddleboards were blown out of the approved swimming zones and into the lake as a result of strong winds.
Every day, we witness people engaging in risky behaviors on the water, such as drinking and driving, and people getting sick from the heat. It is also monsoon season, which means the rain and wind can come at you from any direction,” the officials said in the release.People who are thinking about going to the lake should be informed that “monsoons come with little or no warning and present dangerous conditions in the park.”
