Kenneth Sowell Obituary, Death – After a protracted battle with illness, Mr. Kenneth Sowell, age 82, of Vidalia, Georgia, passed away on Saturday, August 5, 2023. He spent the majority of his life in the Vidalia area, although having spent his entire life in Toombs County. Mr. Sowell went to Center School, graduated from Lyons High School in 1958, and was a veteran who had served in the United States Army as a medic for a total of five years.
He had a career as a farmer and a truck driver before he started working at the Toombs County Convenience Centers. He had formerly attended Cedar Crossing Baptist Church, and his hobbies were reading (particularly the Bible), gardening, observing nature, and spending time at home.
In addition, he was a Baptist. His granddaughter, Carmen Leigh Rodgers Murray, his parents, Jimmie Carroll Sowell and Laura Poole Sowell, his infant brother, Richard Sowell, and his sister-in-law, Mollie Sowell, all passed away before him. He was the youngest of five children.
His family consists of his wife of fifty-four years, Connie Thigpen Sowell, who resides in Vidalia; one daughter, Jill Sowell Rodgers and her husband Ryan, who reside in Uvalda; one son, Dan Sowell and his wife Steffi, who reside in Oklahoma; four grandchildren, Neal Rodgers and his wife Amy, who reside in Naples, Florida; Kaline Sowell, who resides in Texas; Ana and Zoey Sowell, who reside in Oklahoma; one
On Monday evening, from 6:00 until 8:00, the family will greet guests who have come to pay their respects at the funeral home.
The memorial ceremony will take place in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home on Tuesday morning, August 8th, at 10:00.
