Joey Deschenes Obituary, Death – Following his retirement from the Special Services Division, Joe took a position as a deputy in the Sheriff’s Office of Civil Process. Before beginning his career with the Worcester County Sheriff’s Office, Joe served as a police officer for the Worcester Housing Authority and was the owner of the formerly known as Moore’s Taxi Service in Millbury. Joe worked as a disc jockey for the WORC radio station in Worcester throughout the 1960s.
Joe leaves behind his wife of twenty years, Diana D. (Russell) Coggans; his daughter, Kim E. Coggans Lennon and her husband, Raymond, of Leicester; his son, Joseph F. Coggans, III and his wife, Debra, of Dudley; two step-sons, Robert Marlowe, Jr. and Ronald Marlowe, both of Millbury; and five grandchildren, Justin, Christopher, and Benjamin Wunsch, and Jacqueline and Haley Coggans. Both of his biological parents, Joseph and Ann (Pignataro) Coggans, as well as his surrogate son, Edmund L. Lin, had passed away before him. Joe was a charter and life member of the Millbury Lions Club. He also served as a previous president of the organization and on its Board of Directors.
Joey Deschenes has sadly passed away. Over the course of more than 30 years, Joe served the Town of Millbury in a variety of positions, including on the Board of Selectman and the Board of Assessors. After 25 years of service, Joe retired as a Lieutenant in the Special Services Division of the Worcester Sheriff Department in 2006. He had been with the department since 1984.His most recent position was as co-chair of the Carnival Committee for the club.
