Jimmy Bridgeman Obituary, Learn More About Jimmy Bridgeman Death
Jimmy Bridgeman Obituary, Death – The news that one of our very own, Jimmy Bridgeman, has died away is sent to each and every one of you with the utmost regret. On July 4, 2023, a Life member who was still one of the most active call runners passed away at his house in the company of his friends and family. Jimmy, or “bigun” as many of us know him better, was born on September 17, 1958. His birthday is September 17. On June 14, 1976, he stated that the sole reason he joined the Disputanta Volunteer fire and rescue department was because he wanted to assist others. Jimmy had been with the department for the full 47 years until he retired.
Jimmy didn’t just devote his time off from Phillip Morris to DVFD; he also raised Jamie Bridgeman, who would eventually become a member of the band, full-time. Jimmy rose through every rank in the department, including that of chief, and was one of the first to bring extrication and heavy technical rescue to the Disputanta Volunteer fire department to serve the County of Prince George and jurisdictions surrounding it. He was also a founding member of our regional technical rescue team, which was called the Crater Regional Technical Rescue.
Even while we cannot in any way express the experience, presence, or culture that Jimmy brought to the county and developed there in just a brief paragraph, we can remember him and continue to apply the information and advice he taught others who worked under him for decades to come. Hearing Jimmy’s voice on any extrication or HTR scenario brought a sense of solace to those of us who were familiar with him. When the hat started to turn the other way and he added a new dash of seasoning, it was time to go to work.
