Mrs. Helen was one of the church’s oldest members and had been a devout attendee of Wingate Baptist Church for more than seven decades. A funeral service is scheduled to take place at the Chapel of Gordon Funeral Service on Saturday, August 12, 2023 at twelve o’clock in the afternoon. After that, her body will be cremated and interred in Lakeland Memorial Park. Before the funeral ceremony, the family will be present at Gordon Funeral ceremony, located at 1904 Lancaster Avenue, Monroe, North Carolina 28112, from 11:00 AM to 11:45 AM to greet friends.
Mrs. Helen Torrence Helms, who resided in Wingate, North Carolina, lived to the ripe old age of 100 before passing away on August 4, 2023. She was the daughter of the late William May Torrence and Edith Millen Torrence and was born on November 19, 1922 in Mecklenburg County. Her parents both passed away before her birth. Her husband James Ned Helms, her brothers Ralph Torrence, Audrey Torrence, and Pete Torrence, and her sisters Dorothy Hice and Inez Black all passed away before her.
