Daniel Long Obituary, North Wilkesboro Firefighters Mourn The Death Of A Member
Daniel Long Obituary, Death – After graduating from Lees McRae College, Danny continued his education at North Carolina State University, where he earned a degree in agriculture. After completing his education, he found work in the carpet manufacturing industry. He is survived by his sister, Dorothy Patterson Bair, his much-loved niece and nephew, Libby and Jim Wooten, his great niece and her husband, Shannon and Matthew Maness, his great nephew Ryan Wooten, and all of his lovely church family at Foscoe Christian Church. He was a member of Foscoe Christian Church for many years.
He had a lengthy career as an employee at the JP Stevens carpet plant until taking early retirement in 1996. During the course of several years, he served as a volunteer with the West End Fire Department, where he contributed a significant amount of his time to giving back to his community and assisting others. He was a trained emergency medical technician, the driver of an ambulance, and a first responder. He was a very valuable man who had the greatest and most compassionate heart for anybody and everyone, and he will be sorely missed by all.
The life of Daniel Long has ended. Everyone who knew Uncle Danny had a lot of affection for him. If you spent any amount of time in his company, you were automatically considered a friend, and it is my sincere desire that you had the opportunity to listen to one of his fantastic tales. You may not have even known his last name because he was probably introduced to you as “Uncle Danny,” and you may have never known it. In 1953, he received his diploma from West End High School.
